Cajun Shrimp and Grits
Creamy cheese grits topped with spicy Cajun shrimp in a rich butter sauce. A Southern classic.
Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup stone-ground grits
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup sharp cheddar, shredded
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- Green onions for garnish
Instructions

Bring water to boil with 1 tsp salt. Whisk in grits.

Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes, stirring often.

Stir in cheese and 2 tbsp butter until creamy. Keep warm.

Cook bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.

Season shrimp with Cajun seasoning.

In bacon fat, cook shrimp 2 minutes per side. Remove.

Add remaining butter and garlic to pan. Cook 1 minute.

Add chicken broth and simmer 2 minutes.

Serve grits topped with shrimp, sauce, bacon, and green onions.
