Marlon's Godfather Spaghetti Sauce
A rich, authentic Italian-American spaghetti sauce that would make the Godfather proud. Slow-simmered to perfection with tomatoes, herbs, and love.
Ingredients
- 2 cans (28 oz each) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 large onion, finely diced
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir well to combine.

Add basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, sugar, salt, and pepper.

If using wine, add it now and stir.

Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low.

Let sauce simmer for at least 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Serve over your favorite pasta.
