Peach Cobbler
A warm, buttery Southern peach cobbler with a golden biscuit-like crust. Sweet juicy peaches bubbling under a crispy top — best served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
- 2 cans (29 oz each) sliced peaches in heavy syrup, drained (reserve 1 cup syrup)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Place the stick of butter in a 9x13 baking dish and put it in the oven to melt while it preheats.
- 2
In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- 3
Add the milk and vanilla extract. Stir until just combined — a few small lumps are okay.
- 4
Remove the baking dish from the oven once the butter is melted. Pour the batter directly over the melted butter. Do NOT stir.
- 5
Arrange the peach slices evenly over the batter. Pour the reserved cup of peach syrup over everything. Do NOT stir.
- 6
Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the cobbler has puffed up around the peaches.
- 7
Let cool for 10 minutes. The batter magically rises up and around the peaches to form the crust.
- 8
Serve warm with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.
