Salted Caramel Bread Pudding
A decadent dessert with custardy bread pudding drizzled in homemade salted caramel sauce. Rich, warm, and absolutely irresistible.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread (day-old), cubed
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- For the caramel: 1 cup sugar, 6 tablespoons butter, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1 teaspoon sea salt

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13 baking dish. Spread bread cubes in the dish.

Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.

Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Press bread down gently to absorb the liquid. Let sit for 15 minutes.

Drizzle melted butter over the top. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden and the center is set.

For the caramel sauce: Heat 1 cup sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it melts into an amber liquid.

Carefully stir in 6 tablespoons butter until melted. Slowly pour in 1/2 cup cream while stirring. Add sea salt.

Let caramel cool slightly, then drizzle generously over the warm bread pudding before serving.
